How to Apply for Exam Accommodations

If you are planning to seek accommodations on high school placement, college entry, or
professional exams, be sure to know the requirements for documentation. Each testing
agency has their own requirements for application and eligibility documentation. Most
exams require educational testing that is no older than 3 years prior to your test date.
This is true of applicants newly diagnosed with learning or mental health conditions, and
those who have been diagnosed since childhood.

Additionally, be sure to allow enough time to complete and submit your application for
accommodations and for the testing agency to review your materials before your
planned test date. Most organizations require submission 6-12 weeks before your test
date. Your request may be denied, which you can choose to appeal, but this also takes
time. See below for the accommodations requirements for common exams:

For college accommodations, many schools also require recent testing, ranging from 3-
5 years. If you are the parent of a high school student, keep mindful of the date of their
evaluation and update accordingly. Please contact Dr. Fox to discuss your testing
options.
